Beyond the Sequence: Ethical, Legal and Social Contexts in Genomics

Wellcome is organising a workshop series in the UK and South Africa in March and April 2024 to further integrate international genomics research and the breadth of disciplines, perspectives and practices focused on the Ethical, Legal and Social (ELS) contexts of genomics.

Workshop series at a glance

This workshop series aims to:

  • explore the wider landscape
  • address barriers to deeper integration and opportunities for new networks and ways of working, sharing innovative approaches, and field-opening
  • develop next steps for guidance and recommendations for Wellcome and others.

Online co-development session:

  • Week commencing 22 January 2024 (exact date TBC)

London in-person workshop:

Please note that this workshop takes place during Ramadan, and therefore we will be providing a dedicated multifaith prayer / quiet room. If you are observing Ramadan and require any other further accommodations, please inform us ahead of time.

Cape Town in-person workshop:

The aim is for as many participants as possible to attend all three workshops, which build on one another. However, it will be possible to attend fewer sessions, and join online, if required.

Wellcome will cover costs associated with attending these workshops. Please note that these workshops will take place in English.
