Nan Davies, Head of Culture and Society Transition
Nan leads the management of a varied and important portfolio of projects and programmes in education, public engagement, and humanities and social science, which sit outside Wellcome’s new strategy.
Nan is responsible for shaping and developing work to ensure that cultural projects, which fall outside Wellcome’s strategy, end well and with maximum impact.
Nan’s background and experience is in formal and informal education. She has previously worked as a primary school teacher, with responsibility for science, and secondary school science teacher. This is her second innings at Wellcome – the first was almost 30 years ago as Education Project Manager, just as Wellcome started its work in UK science education. She joined again in 2017 to lead a programme supporting science teachers' professional development.
She has a BSc in Genetics and a PGCE in science education. Her second language is Welsh (now horribly rusty) and she’s a great supporter of the Welsh rugby team.
