Pathogen Biology and Disease Transmission Discovery Advisory Group
This advisory group shortlists candidates for Wellcome Career Development Awards and Wellcome Discovery Awards.
Read more about what we do and don’t fund in discovery research.
This advisory group covers applications that aim to improve our understanding of the biology of pathogens and their vectors, and how infectious diseases are transmitted.
Some examples of this are:
- infectious diseases of humans, and animals where there is a human health relevance or impact
- cellular and molecular studies of human pathogens and their vectors, including host-pathogen interactions
- mechanisms and emergence of drug-resistant infection relevant to human health
- population and evolution studies of infectious agents and their hosts
- environmental factors influencing infection, including disease ecology
- studies of microbial populations where they pertain to pathogens and vectors.
Proposed projects may span more than one funding area. You should choose the research subject area which aligns with the focus of the project.
