Data Sciences, Tools and Technology Career Advisory Group
This review group shortlists candidates for Wellcome Early-Career Awards and Wellcome Career Development Awards.

This advisory group covers applications that aim to develop novel tools, technologies and/or methodologies (physical or computational tools and novel conceptual frameworks) that have the potential to benefit health related discovery research.
Proposals can be stand-alone development endeavours and do not need to address a specific biological or health-related question. However, they must clearly articulate how they will advance the current state of the art and identify the research areas most likely to benefit.
Some examples of this are:
- machine learning and artificial intelligence methods
- statistical, and informatics techniques
- novel data collection methods and analytical techniques
- development of novel technologies and tools (physical and/or computational) or substantially enhancing/improving existing ones (excludes maintenance of existing resources, where this is the primary purpose)
Where a research tool is being explicitly developed as an outcome of a defined discovery research project or to support a defined discovery research project, the applications would be considered by the relevant research subject area committee.
Proposed projects may span more than one funding area. You should choose the research subject area which aligns with the focus of the project.
Additional experts will join the panel as necessary.
