This advisory group covers applications that aim to transform understandings of health, wellbeing, disease and healthcare through research in the arts and humanities and social sciences. This can be in any field or discipline, with any geographical or chronological focus, using any approach that generates new knowledge, understandings or concepts and methods.
Some examples of this are:
- research on the social, cultural, political and historical contexts of health, wellbeing, disease and healthcare
- research on experiences or representations of health, wellbeing, disease and healthcare, health practice and/or policy, and the generation of medical knowledge
- research on the social and political determinants of health and health inequalities
- conceptual and/or empirical work on ethical challenges in medicine, healthcare and medical research
- arts-led methodologies or approaches embedded within a research programme
- the development of new methodologies, techniques and conceptual frameworks related to research in the arts, humanities, and social sciences on health, healthcare and wellbeing
Proposed projects may span more than one funding area. You should choose the research subject area which aligns with the focus of the project.
Applications to the Social Sciences research subject area may be considered by a Population and Public Health shortlisting panel if the membership of that panel has expertise more relevant to the application.
