Project summary

FlyBase provides an essential resource for those using Drosophila in their research. The emergency funds provided by a discretionary award will cover some of the sudden loss of funding for FlyBase from the US National Institute of Health. This award will enable FlyBase to retain the two most experienced members of the Cambridge FlyBase team, ensuring that essential knowledge it not lost, and that current curation efforts can be maintained. We are optimistic that contributions from the research community will provide the funding for the other three curators previously funded by the NIH. This award will provide the necessary time for the Principal Investigators to establish a new longer term funding stream for the Cambridge FlyBase team.
