About the Wellcome Global Monitor

The Wellcome Global Monitor is the world’s largest study into how people think and feel about science, covering more than 140,000 people across 140 countries. It has been running since 2018 and is now in its third edition: 2018, 2020, 2026.

From 2026, the Wellcome Global Monitor is focused on public trust in science. It provides a unique evidence base for understanding:

  • How people around the world trust science, scientists and institutions
  • How public trust varies across regions, countries and demographic groups
  • How people experience science in relation to health, technology, information systems, vaccines and climate change

The first ever qualitative set of findings will be published in autumn 2027, exploring the experiences and perspectives behind the quantitative findings. Between 2026 and 2032, new editions will be published each year, alternating between qualitative and quantitative evidence.
