Wellcome statement in response to the 2023 report of the Lancet Countdown on health and climate change

Dr Alan Dangour, Director of Climate & Health at Wellcome, said:

“COP28 has the power to either save or cost lives. By taking bold action and delivering on the Paris commitments, accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels towards renewables, Governments can help to deliver a healthy and sustainable future for current and future generations.

“There is still time for world leaders to grasp these opportunities and ensure we are putting the health and wellbeing of people first.”
