Wellcome responds to US withdrawal from WHO and Paris Climate Agreement
John-Arne Røttingen, chief executive of Wellcome, responds to the US administration's decision to withdraw from the WHO and the Paris Climate Agreement.
John-Arne Røttingen, chief executive of Wellcome, said:
"Health security and advancing good health are fundamental for the strong economies and societies all nations desire. These cannot be achieved without research excellence, investment and global collaboration. The US administration’s decision to withdraw from the World Health Organisation, and Paris Climate Agreement, does not change this. It presents a definite challenge. But we always have to be prepared to navigate challenges. Wellcome will continue to seek to work constructively with the US, other governments and our partners in global health, championing the commitment to robust, evidence-based and trustworthy public health and regulation we have seen in our partnerships with US agencies."
