Project summary
Established in 1996, the Centre for Ethics in Medicine provides excellent postgraduate education in healthcare ethics and law/bioethics. Our MSc by Research (MScR) equips students for bioethics research, giving them the opportunity to develop their own research in a structured and supported environment. It provides an opportunity to engage in a research-focused bioethics Master’s degree, which supports the acquisition of knowledge, skills and research experience essential to progress to a PhD but which is rarely provided in postgraduate programmes.
We provide an immersive experience, with MScR students joining our research community. They are given core training and research activities, and attend and present at the centre’s research seminar series. They will also audit other training and research and participate in conferences and workshops. MScR students will be closely supported to produce funding applications for doctoral study.
We will grow this course into a national feeder programme for research careers in bioethics to develop the next generation of bioethics researchers.
