Project summary

The Raissa Page photographic collection is held in the Richard Burton Archives (RBA) at Swansea University. Raissa Page is an important figure in British social care and a renowned documentary photographer whose work represented marginalised groups during times of social change. She captured the lives of the working class, people with disabilities, and young people at work, leisure and in hospital or care in the UK and overseas. The collection ranges from 1978 to 2010 and comprises photographs, transparencies, negatives, slides, notebooks, audio and printed material.

The main objectives of the project are to catalogue and repackage the collection for preservation, allowing researchers to access and navigate it easily. We will employ an archivist to catalogue the collection to recognised archival standards and make it electronically searchable. The collection will also be repackaged to ensure future preservation.

We will promote the accessible archive to the research community and wider public through social media and events, such as a series of seminars and an end-of-project launch.
