Answer each question based on your circumstances at the point you plan to submit your application. If we need more information about any of your answers, we’ll tell you at the end and explain what to do next.
Who this eligibility self-assessment tool is for
Use this self-assessment tool if you are thinking of applying for a Wellcome Early-Career Award and your organisation is:
- based in the UK, the Republic of Ireland or a low- or middle-income country (LMIC)
- and
- a not-for-profit organisation. This can include higher education institutes, research institutes or healthcare organisations.
Organisations in India or mainland China are not eligible.
Location eligibility for this funding scheme is changing from October
From 29 October 2026, we will only accept applications from lead applicants based at administering organisations in the UK, and low- and middle-income countries in Africa, South Asia and South-east Asia. Any applications submitted to Wellcome on or before 28 October 2026 will be assessed under the current location eligibility requirements.
