Wellcome Trust appoints new Head of Engaging Science
Lisa Jamieson has been appointed as Head of Engaging Science at the Wellcome Trust, working to enhance the impact of the Trust’s public engagement portfolio.
The Engaging Science department manages one of the UK's largest public engagement funding programmes, along with a strategy to work with the broadcast and gaming industries. The team also works with all Trust-funded scientists to help them develop their public engagement activities.
Lisa Jamieson comments: "I'm really looking forward to working with the team on a wide variety of innovative projects that offer the possibility of reaching individuals right across the geographical, social and political landscape. I am passionate about both science and the arts and am looking forward to building on our existing strengths and facilitating new partnerships across the sectors."
Clare Matterson, Director of Medical Humanities and Engagement at the Wellcome Trust, adds: "I am delighted that Lisa will be stepping into this role. She has been instrumental in delivering Wellcome Collection's programme of acclaimed events, and her wealth of experience will be invaluable in helping achieve the Trust's aim of making science part of the national conversation."
Lisa joined the Wellcome Trust in 2005 as Events Manager at Wellcome Collection, delivering a programme of events and activities for adults, teenagers and the local community. She was previously Programme Manager at the Science Museum's Dana Centre.
Lisa will take up her position in early August 2013.
