This will replace our current end-of-grant report, and will capture research outputs such as publications, intellectual property and software tools, and other outcomes such as influence on policy.
The data from Researchfish will help us assess progress against these ambitions. It will be used at an aggregate level to gain a deeper understanding of what is being achieved through Wellcome grants and in partnership with others.
We won’t use it to assess the impact of individual grants, or to inform decisions about individual funding applications.
Collecting data in this way will also make it easier for research offices and researchers to record, review and share research outputs and outcomes from Wellcome grants.
Timeline for the changes
Wellcome will join Researchfish’s main submission window, which runs from 4 February 2019 to 14 March 2019. We’ll ask grantholders whose grants end between 1 October 2018 and 30 September 2019 to submit in this window.
The Wellcome Grants team will contact research offices and the researchers who will need to submit with more information in the autumn.
What isn’t going to change
- Final financial expenditure checks will remain for all grantholders, as part of our grant closure process.
- Annual progress reporting will continue to run via Wellcome Trust Grant Tracker.
- Public Engagement grantholders are not affected by this change, and will continue to use end-of-grant forms when their grant ends.
- There will also be no change for grantholders in receipt of Innovations awards.
