Project summary
Three years ago, we established the Translational Neuroscience PhD Programme (TN1). It addresses the fundamental problems in translating advances in neuroscience to the clinic. We equip students with the means to resolve these problems by providing rigorous, cross-disciplinary training in the neuroscience of brain disorders. TN2 will continue with the key aim of TN1 by using the opportunities offered by the collaborative Edinburgh neuroscience community of world-leading scientists. We have recently expanded our portfolio of neuroscience research, including new opportunities in data science and new translational expertise introduced by our Dementia Research Institute, the Simons Initiative for the Developing Brain and the Institute for Regeneration and Repair.
We will incorporate lessons learned from our TN1 cohorts and other stakeholders to enhance student welfare, diversity and career options. Our programme will provide training in translational neuroscience, key skills for research and other careers worldwide.
