Project summary
It is a time of political, economic and social change on the island of Ireland. In the Republic of Ireland, there has been strong economic growth and significant social reform in abortion and marriage equality. In Northern Ireland, devolution has stalled and there are rising political and population divisions over Brexit. Healthcare is one of the key policy sectors affected by these developments.
This project will bring together researchers, practitioners and other stakeholders from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland to examine key issues – reproduction, patient safety and end of life care – involved in healthcare delivery in and across the Irish border.
The project will establish a cross-border research network which focuses on healthcare law, policy and ethics for the first time, which will include an interdisciplinary research agenda to develop collaborations in the future.
