Project summary
We plan to understand specific needs of underrepresented groups involved in the response to outbreaks of infectious disease. We will hold two UX sprint events with key people from these groups and design a survey based on what we learn. The survey will be distributed to people involved in outbreak science worldwide. The feedback from the sprint events and the survey will guide key decisions related to the user experience and interface of the PREreview open source platform that we are creating in our main project which will provide rapid assessment of preprints during public health crises.
We will publish our findings as a series of blog posts, resources, and/or a preprint, focusing on lessons learned and our methodologies. This will help other researchers learn from our experience of designing a platform that includes underrepresented groups. We will also create a project advisory committee made up of people from underrepresented groups using the connections made during the sprint events.
