Project summary

We want to create an international research network that focuses on the ways that race and biomedicine are mobilised beyond the lab in the 21st century. We will foreground how non-scientists deploy biomedical ideas of race that either entrench or resist historical ideas about it and its relation to biology across domains of environments, markets and human rights.

We will organise an international conference that will chart the global dimensions of 21st century uses of biomedical ideas of race. We will hold an international workshop to develop engagement among the key members of the network and we will also produce a series of publications.

This work will lay the groundwork for more ambitious collaborative research among network members. We will also develop a robust programme of future research collaboration, including sourcing additional funding to guarantee the continued growth of the network and its work.
