Project summary

Medical humanities is an innovative area of inquiry and practice in which the arts, humanities and social sciences critically engage biomedicine, the life sciences, and the wider contexts of human and animal health. As research in this field becomes increasingly complex, the need to foster formal and informal collaborations grows.

This grant will support ten Universities in the North of England and Scotland to sustain a network dedicated to the creative pursuit of excellence in collaborative critical medical humanities research. Its goal is to address major challenges at the interface of the arts and sciences through a wide range of enrichment activities – from an annual congress to smaller, targeted workshops – supporting and enabling the development of large research projects and fostering the careers of new entrants into this field.
