Project summary

The Medical Research Council National Survey of Health and Development (MRC NSHD) is the oldest British birth cohort study and has data on the health and social circumstances of 5,362 men and women born in England, Scotland or Wales in March 1946.

We will sort, preserve and catalogue the administrative archive of the MRC NSHD to international standards using CALM and make it available to researchers through our online archive catalogue. It will be housed with other specialist education archives at the University College London’s (UCL) Institute of Education. We will conserve and digitise specified material in the archive and create a plan for the future retention of material. We will also manage outreach work relating to the archive collection in collaboration with staff at the MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing at UCL.
