Project summary

Vaccine policy decisions and processes are not well understood. In recent years, mandatory vaccine policies have been introduced in many countries, including in Asia. These vaccine policies that take away the choice for refusing vaccines, has been controversial and highly debated. Currently, why countries choose to introduce these policies is not known. For this study, I propose to review available literature and conducted interviews with key persons involved in vaccine policies in two countries in Asia. I will use a policy framework to evaluate who decided on the mandatory vaccine policy, why they decided on the policy, how they made the decision and what influenced their decision. I aim to develop a framework which I hope will help inform future policy and position decisions on vaccinations.
