Project summary

The Cambridge Department of History and Philosophy of Science is a major centre of research in the history of medicine and health and the leading international centre for the history of reproduction. Our annual Cambridge Wellcome Lecture in the History of Medicine is an opportunity to showcase work, draw together a large community and invite advisors from Wellcome to speak to prospective and existing grant holders.

We will host our annual lecture and maintain and enhance our seminar series. The seminars, which alternate between early medicine, modern medicine and biology, and generation to reproduction, are an important forum for training and networking for the department’s expanding group of historians of medicine and health.

We will improve the value of the seminars by inviting colleagues from other countries in Europe. The reproduction theme enforces our leadership role in that field and the other strands ensure intellectual breadth and allow new specialist areas to emerge.
