The Body of Work

This series of four one-day events combines seminars and workshops to advance knowledge and give visibility to topics related to the body which are under-represented in studies about organisations. 

By bringing together academics and practitioners in the third sector, we will develop an online and offline network to explore four topics linking peoples' professional and personal experiences. We will investigate inequality in the workplace for people of colour by discussing anxiety, power dynamics and discrimination and we will look at the way pregnancy and fertility affect work by considering physical and psychological perspectives. We will also look at the consequences of chronic and acute experiences of pain, discussing interactions between workplace practice and identities and we will examine the impact of menstrual cycles on careers, exploring issues such as period poverty, menstruation and endometriosis.
