Grant start dates

How we work out your grant start date and what to do if you need to defer.

Your grant start date and its duration are set out in your award letter.

You can defer your start date by up to 12 months. You can do this without asking us.

You can defer your start date by a further six months if you:

  • have reached this 12 month limit

  • are still unable to start your grant due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

You must contact your funding manager or email if you want to do this.

If you defer your start date, you can defer the end date by the same number of months.

Your grant will officially start when you appoint your first postholder.

Your official start date determines the grant end date. This won't change unless you ask us.
