Pathogen Biology and Disease Transmission Discovery Advisory Group
This advisory group shortlists candidates for Wellcome Career Development Awards and Wellcome Discovery Awards.
Its remit covers applications that aim to improve our understanding of the biology of human pathogens and their vectors, and how infectious diseases are transmitted.
Examples include:
- infectious diseases of humans
- cellular and molecular studies of human pathogens and their vectors, including antigen discovery and host-pathogen interactions
- mechanisms and emergence of drug-resistant infection relevant to humans
- population and evolution studies of infectious agents and their hosts
- environmental factors influencing infection, including disease ecology
- studies of microbial populations relevant to human health, including the microbiome.
