Arthy Hartwell, Head of Policy for Climate and Health
Arthy Hartwell is Head of Policy for Climate and Health at Wellcome, where she leads policy influencing to put health at the centre of climate action.
Arthy's work focuses on strengthening the policy and political case for climate action, with particular emphasis on extreme heat, climate adaptation and ensuring health evidence informs climate and economic decision-making. She works across the UK, Germany and EU, as well as through global climate and health processes and UN partners.
Arthy brings extensive experience at the intersection of health, climate and public policy. Before joining Wellcome, Arthy worked at Chatham House, and the British Medical Association as Head of International Affairs, where she developed deep expertise in policy development and advocacy in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, working across government, civil society and the research community to translate evidence into policy change. She has a strong track record of influencing senior decision-makers and building the kinds of coalitions and partnerships that make ambitious policy shifts possible.
Outside the office, Arthy can usually be found exploring new food markets, attempting ambitious dinner party menus, and making increasingly elaborate plans to entertain her two small children.
