Project summary
We will increase the variety of sources available for the study of medicine, health and welfare in Worcestershire by cataloguing and conserving collections from our backlog and retroconverting old paper catalogues relating to hospitals and health professionals and organisations before and after the formation of the NHS. This will build on our previous project cataloguing the mental health records of Barnsley Hall and Powick Hospitals.
We will create catalogues of our unlisted health-related collections to international standards for use by medical professionals, researchers and the public. We will retroconvert our paper catalogues relating to health and hospital records so they can be accessed online. We will also clean, preserve and repackage archive material and repair fragile items.
We will promote the project and raise awareness of our medical and health records using social media, articles, an exhibition, presentations and a health walk. We will also produce an online guide to our main health archive collections.
