Project summary
We will evaluate the effectiveness of the suspected cholera interventions in the Republic of Yemen using three methods. We will conduct focus groups and interviews with key informants and community members to guide the development of a questionnaire that will be used to conduct a cross-sectional household survey. We will also observe practices at health facilities. We will work in four of Yemen’s 22 governorates and select three districts in each for the cross-sectional survey. Three of the governorates have received all the interventions including cholera vaccine, health communication messages and water and sanitation. One of the four did not receive the cholera vaccine.
We will stratify the districts by the level of cholera cases reported as high, medium and lower number of suspected cholera cases. This will allow us to examine and assess the interventions against the different levels of cholera cases.
